Squid (Loligo vulgaris) is the most common catch and has high economic value landed at the Belawan Gabion Fish Landing Site (TPI), North Sumatra. Squid fishing efforts will always increase in an effort to meet consumption demand, while production from squid fisheries will tend to decline. This research was conducted in Belawan from January 2023 to March 2023 with the aim of determining the growth and exploitation status of squid (Loligo vulgaris) in the waters. The primary data used were 206 samples of squid (Loligo vulgaris) whose mantle length and total weight were measured. Estimated Von Bertalanffy growth parameters where asymptotic length (L∞) = 237.9 mm, growth coefficient (K) = 0.95 per year and age at zero length (to) = -0.28 from Pauly's empirical formula. Then the equation for squid growth is Lt=237.90(1–EXP(0.95(t+0.51))) . The b value is obtained from the relationship between the length and weight of the squid, 0.96. The squid growth pattern is negative allometric with the growth equation W=0.56726L0.95519. The highest and lowest values of the condition factor are 0.793 and 1.207. The total mortality rate (Z) for squid is 2.032 per year with a natural mortality rate (M) of 0.999 per year and a fishing mortality rate of 1.032 per year so that an exploitation rate of 0.508 is obtained and this exploitation rate value does not exceed the optimum exploitation value of 0.5en_US
