Pengaruh Pemberian Tepung Daun Pepaya (Carica papaya Linn) dalam Ransum terhadap Efisiensi Penggunaan Protein pada Ayam Broiler
Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of giving papaya leaf powder in the ration on the efficiency of protein use in broiler chickens. This research was conducted in the Animal Husbandry Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra, Medan. The design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications. Treatment consisted of P0 (without papaya leaf powder); P1 (1.5% papaya leaf powder); P2 (2.5% papaya leaf powder); P3 (3.5% papaya leaf powder). The observed variables were protein consumption, protein efficiency ratio and protein retention. The results showed that the average protein consumption in a row P0, P1, P2 and P3 were 314.90, 405.61, 352.44 and 383.55(g/head/35 days). Protein efficiency ratios were 3.85, 3.05, 3.86 and 3.30 respectively. Protein retention was 77.45, 85.72, 89.90 and 88.02 (%), respectively. The results of the analysis of variance showed that the treatment had a very significant effect (P<0.01) on protein consumption, a very significant difference (P<0.01) on protein retention It can be concluded that giving 1.5, 2.5, and 3.5% papaya leaf powder in the ration can increase protein efficiency in broiler chickens
