Penetapan Kadar Kapasitas Tukar Kation pada Tanah di Laboratorium Tanah, Air dan Limbah Pusat Penelitian Kelapa Sawit (PPKS) Medan
Abstract
A cation exchange capacity determination analysis was conducted on soil in the soil,
water and waste laboratory of the Palm Oil Research Center, Medan. The purpose of
this analysis is to determine the content of cation exchange capacity contained in soil
samples at the palm oil research center. By knowing the cation exchange capacity of
the soil sample, the level of fertility of the soil can also be known. And also can know
the factors that affect the value of the cation exchange capacity. The method used for
this analysis is to use percolate distillation where NaCl is put into a distillation tube
and later the distillate is accommodated in an erlenmeyer containing 1% borax acid
and added 3 drops of conway indicator and then distilled. After that it is continued
with titration using H2SO4. From the analysis results obtained, the cation exchange
capacity values of the soil are 7.27 me/100 g; 9.94 me/100 g; 15.39 me/100 g; 14.08
me/100 g; 11.85 me/100 g; 9.49 me/100 g; 9.00 me/100 g, respectively. And with the
results obtained it can be concluded that the cation exchange capacity of the soil is
low.
