Pra-Rancangan Pabrik Pembuatan Natrium Karboksimetil Selulosa (Na-CMC) dari Tongkol Jagung dengan Metode Wyandotte Kapasitas Produksi 3.000 Ton/Tahun dengan Tugas Khusus Rancangan Keteknikan Rotary Dryer
Abstract
Na-CMC is wdely used in pharmaceutical, cosmetic, papermaking, textile industries. The need in the field of industry is increasing, so the need for Na-CMC in Indonesia is quite high. Na-CMC imports in 2017 were 5.840,465 tons/year and in 2018 reached 5.880,314 tons/year. This makes Na-CMC business opportunities in Indonesia said to be good.
In this factory pre-design, Na-CMC is made from raw materials available in Indonesia. One of the raw materials that can be utilized as raw material for Na-
CMC is corn cobs. According to data from the Central Statistics Agency, corn
production in Indonesia in 2015 amounted to 19.612.435 tons/year. As much as 30% of corn weight is corn cob weight. Corn production is estimated in 2025 to be around 1.336.410.400 tons/year. This result in corn cob waste of 409.923.120 tons/year.
The cellulose content of corn cob is quite high, amounting to 41%,
hemicellulose 26% and lignin 6%. The cellulose content of corn cobs is high enough to have the potential to be utilized as raw material for the manufacture of Na-CMC.
The pre-designed Na-CMC production plant from corn cobs planned to produce with a capasity of 3.000 tons/year and operate for 330 days a year. In the pre-design of the Na-CMC production plant from corn cobs using the Wyandotte method wit a production capacity of 3.000 tons/year using two main processes,
namely :
1. Corn cob pretreatment process using Kraft delignification process into pulp
2. Alkalization and Carboxymethylation process into Na-CMC
The design of the main process equipment is determined in the pre-design of
the Na-CMC manufacturing plant using the Wyandotte method, namely:
1. Digester
a) Digester Temperature : 176°C
b) Digester Pressure : 9 atm
c) Reaction Time : 1 hour
2. Alkalization and Carboxymethylation Reactor
a) Reactor Temperatur : 70°C
b) Reactor Pressure : 1 atm
c) Reaction time : 1 hour
The plant is planned to be established in the area in Bandarkedungmulyo District, Jombang Regency, East Java Province with an area of 12.942 m2. The required workface is 154 people with a Limited Liability Company (PT) under the leadership of a President Director.
The results of the economic evaluation of the Na-CMC manufacturing plant from corn cob are as follows:
a. Total Investment Capital = Rp. 297.350.114.013
b. Production Cost (per year) = Rp. 127.463.919.292
c. Sales Revenue = Rp. 300.000.000.000
d. Profit After Tax = Rp. 114. 886.493.671
e. Profit Margin (PM) = 54,64 %
f. Break Even Point (BEP) = 40,04 %
g. Return of Investment (ROI) = 41%
h. Pay Out Time (POT) = 2 tahun 4 bulan
i. Return On Network (RON) = 64,39 %
j. Internal Rate of Return (IRR) = 54,81%
From the results of the economic evaluation, it can be concluded that the Na-CMC Manufacturing Plant from Corn Cobs is feasible to be established.
