dc.description.abstractThis research was conducted because it saw the importance of political awareness that must be possessed by the younger generation including students as the basis or foundation for future political participation, with political awareness possessed by the younger generation they can become democratic citizens based on the principles of rational considerations. In their daily lives, young people are among those who use the internet as a source of information. In line with online media such as social media which is also a place for political socialization aimed at students. One of the social media that is often accessed and used as a source of information is Youtube, Youtube with a variety of content and information in it, including information related to politics. The purpose of this study was to find out whether exposure to political information on YouTube (X) affects political awareness (Y). The theory underlying this research is impression theory (McQuail 2011), which is an indicator of frequency, duration and attention. Then for the theory of political awareness (Gabriel Almond and Verba) namely 4 patterns of political awareness namely input awareness, output awareness, awareness of receiving information or giving opinions and political choices. This research was conducted using a correlational quantitative method, with the technique of distributing questionnaires to 8 respondents who were also students of USU's Political Science study program. The results showed that there was an influence between exposure to political broadcasts on political awareness simultaneously with a degree of relationship of 46.5%, which also means that there were other factors that influenced 53.5% of political awareness which were not included in this studyen_US
