This study discusses the role of ECPAT as an International Non-Government
Organization in overcoming child trafficking in the Philippines in 2010-2016. The
Philippines is a Source, Transit and Destination country of child trafficking. The
Philippine Department of Social Welfare estimates that there are more than
200,000 children on the streets, one in ten of whom are victims of human
trafficking crimes. For the period 2011-2016 the Government and ECPAT
formalized and supported the National Action Plan which focused on three main
components namely prevention, protection and recovery, return and
reintegration. The research method used in the preparation of this research is
descriptive method, with data collection techniques in the form of literature
review which originates from various literature such as books, e-books, journals,
articles and internet sites. This study aims to find out how the conditions of child
trafficking in the Philippines are and what are the roles and efforts made by
ECPAT to reduce the number of children who are victims of trafficking in the
Philippines as well as the long-term and short-term impacts that will be felt by
children. The results of this study show that ECPAT has various roles in
alleviating child trafficking in the Philippines.
