This thesis raised the title "Anime Lover Habitus (Study on University of North Sumatra Students)". This study aims to explain the process of forming habitus for anime lovers at the University of North Sumatra. This research uses qualitative methods with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques are carried out by observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The theoretical basis used is Pierre Bourdieu's habitus theory. The determination of informants in this study used purposive sampling techniques. The results showed that the habitus of anime lovers is formed through the process of social interaction with family, peers, mass media, and social media. The influence of the social environment can affect a habit that is carried out repeatedly in daily life. The habitus that they always do can be seen from: the allocation of time spent watching anime, the number of anime titles watched, the ownership and allocation of funds used to buy anime goods, the use and application of the Japanese language, and activities in participating in the bunkasai festival. The dominant capital that they display as anime lovers in the campus environment is: social capital, economic capital, and symbolic capital. Anime lovers also have their own realm that is usually shown off campus. Outside of campus, they tend to have side jobs related to their hobbies and can earn both an achievement and financial material from that job. The dominant capital they display outside the campus is: economic capital and cultural capital. In addition, this study found that anime lovers also display their status and role as students in academic environments. The habitus acquired through the penchant for anime played an important role in his accumulation of capital in the academic realm. The capitals they display as a student in the academic realm are: social capital, economic capital, cultural capital, and symbolic capital. The results of capital accumulation displayed in the academic environment can result in academic roles as students, namely: iron stock, guardian of value, agent of change, moral force, and social controlen_US
