Hubungan Gaya Hidup dengan Kejadian Diabetes Mellitus Tipe-2 pada Kelompok Umur 26-35 Tahun di Puskesmas Patumbak Tahun 2023
Abstract
Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder characterized by hyperglycemia due to the inability of the pancreas to secrete insulin, impaired insulin action, or both. According to the ADA (American Diabetes Association), risk factors for Type-2 Diabetes Mellitus include family history, overweight, physical inactivity, certain races, BMI, occupation, income, education, and dietary habits. Indonesia has the 5th highest number of Type-2 DM patients in the world with a prevalence of 10.6%. Deli Serdang is one of the regencies in North Sumatra Province with a high incidence of Type-2 DM with a prevalence of 2.72%. In 2022 the prevalence of Type-2 DM disease in Patumbak Health Center UPT was 0.10%. The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between lifestyle and the incidence of Type-2 DM in the age group 26-35 years at Patumbak Health Center in 2023. This type of research is analytic research using a cross sectional design. Data analysis using the chi-square test showed that there was no significant relationship between occupation and the incidence of Type 2 DM in the age group 26-35 years at UPT Puskesmas Patumbak. There is a significant relationship between age (p<0.05), gender (p<0.05), education (p<0.05), knowledge (p<0.05), attitude (p<0.05), physical activity (p<0.05), eating habits behavior (p<0.05) with the incidence of Type-2 DM in the age group 26-35 years at UPT Puskesmas Patumbak. Suggestions for the Deli Serdang Health Office and UPT Puskesmas Patumbak are to improve health promotion, invite the community to actively participate in Type-2 DM prevention activities and urge the community to diligently check blood sugar levels. Suggestions for the community are to form physical activity groups such as diabetes gymnastics, diligently check blood sugar levels regularly, reduce oily foods, reduce consuming excessive amounts of carbohydrates and fats.
