Kebebasan Berekspresi di Era Digital di Indonesia (Studi Analisis Melalui Undang Undang Informasi dan Transaksi Elektronik)

Abstract

Freedom of expression has a political dimension since it is considered as an essential element of people's participation in the politics and encourages critical opinion and arguments about political life. The development of information technology should stimulate the growth of critical opinion, especially during the digital era. However, the increase of criminal cases against the government in relation to the implementation of the Law of Electronic Information and Transaction (ITE) becomes an issue of freedom of expression.

During the era where digital technology can be easily accessed and spread, the question regarding freedom of expression becomes more relevant. Using quantitative approach and document study, the research aims to analyze the freedom of expression during the digital era in Indonesia and analyze the Law of Electronic Information and Transaction in correlation with freedom of expression.

The result is expected to give more understanding about the issues of freedom of expression during the digital era in Indonesia, and various of problems emerged as a result of the Law of Electronic Information and Transaction implementation. The research finding is an academic contribution that can be used to discuss policies related to human rights protection in correlation to freedom of expression in order to face the challenges during the digital era.
