Consuming high cholesterol and animal fats food leads to the increase in cholesterol. The total amount of cholesterol content in blood can reach its highest level at the age of 60 in men and 70 in women. The objective of the research is to identify the effect of dieting behavior on elderly people's cholesterol content at Kelurahan Tebing Tinggi. The research employs descriptive qualitative phenomenological approach with non-probability sampling technique. There are 6 participants, taken by using purposive sampling technique. The data of dieting behavior are obtained from in-depth interview while the data of cholesterol content are obtained from examination using Easy Touch GCU device. The gathered data are analyzed based on 3 behavior concepts: knowledge, attitude, and action. The result of the research shows that three participants with poor knowledge have high cholesterol content, four participants with negative attitude have high cholesterol content, and four participants with poor action have high cholesterol content. The conclusion is that there is effect of dieting behavior on cholesterol content which can be seen from poor knowledge, attitude, and action which is possible to cause high cholesterol content, and good knowledge, attitude, and action leads to normal cholesterol content.
