dc.description.abstractCarbon dioxide (CO2) is the main contributor in biogas can reduce the heating value. The amount of CO2 in the atmosphere is one of the causes global warming. Several technologies can be used to reduce CO2 content such as cryogenic distillation, membrane separation, high-pressure water scrubbing (HPWS), organic physical scrubbing (OPS), adsorption, and chemical absorption. Chemical absorption has high selectivity and absorption rate and also can be regenerated. This research studied the effect of addition piperazine (PZ) promoter to 30% potassium carbonate (K2CO3) with variations at temperatures (30, 40, and 50 oC), PZ concentration (1, 3 and 5%) and absorbent flow rates (1; 1.5 and 2 L/minute). The research was conducted in a packed column made of stainless steel with a high of 150 cm and a diameter of 9.6 cm which contained packings of the raschig rings type made of ceramic arranged randomly with the aim of expanding the contact area between gas and the absorbent during CO2 absorption. CO2 gas streamed at a constant flow rate of 50 L/min from the bottom of the column and absorbent with the composition of K2CO3, PZ, and aquadest from the top of the column. CO2 loading and CO2 removal in the sample analyzed by acid-base titration method. The results showed that 5% PZ CO2 loading 0.068 mol CO2/mol K2CO3 and CO2 removal 95.408% at operating conditions of 50 oC and absorbent flow rate of 2 L/min. The addition of 5% PZ promoter can increase CO2 removal 19.259%.en_US
