The tourism industry makes a significant contribution to the global economy.
Central Tapanuli Regency has 130 tourist locations, including islands, beaches,
natural attractions, and historical sites. Despite the vast potential of natural and
cultural tourism, the contribution to the Regional Original Income (PAD) from the
tourism sector is still limited. One of the tourist destinations in Central Tapanuli
Regency is Bosur Beach, which has the opportunity for development to increase
income for both the government and the local community. The purpose of this
research is to understand the obstacles at Bosur Beach as a tourist destination and
formulate strategies for its development. This study employs a mixed-method
approach, utilizing questionnaires for visitors and interviews with stakeholders.
The research variables encompass aspects of attraction, amenities, accessibility,
image, and pricing. Tourism aspects significantly impact Bosur Beach, with a
variety of obstacles such as litter on the beach, haphazardly constructed huts, trash
accumulation, and waste burning. There is a lack of established traditions and
rituals, and amenities like trash bins, inadequate maintenance of prayer facilities,
non-compliant parking areas, insufficient road width to the destination, limited
transportation options, the absence of bus stops, non-standardized transportation
fares, and discomfort in public transportation contribute to the challenges. The
research provides several recommendations, including training for beach
operators and vendors, transitioning beach management from Regional-Owned
Enterprises (BUMD) to local government control, developing a tourism
transportation system, promoting Bosur Beach as a tourist attraction through
partnerships with social media content creators, and enhancing the quantity and
quality of facilities, services, and attractions offered at Bosur Beach.
