Hubungan Stunting dengan Pengalaman Karies Gigi Susu pada Anak Usia 36-60 Bulan di Desa Unte Mungkur Kecamatan Kolang Kabupaten Tapanuli Tengah

Abstract

Stunting is a form of malnutrition due to chronic malnutrition, which only becomes apparent after a child is 2 years old. Stunting conditions can cause disorders in the child’s oral cavity, one of which is caries. The purpose of this study was determine the correlation between stunting and caries experience of deciduous using the Klein def-t index in 36-60 months children. This type of research is analytic survey with a cross-sectional design. The population is all children aged 36-60 months who live in Unte Mungkur III and IV Villages, Kolang District, Central Tapanuli Regency, with the sampling technique using accidental sampling amounted to 174 children. Children’s height was measured using a microtoise staturemeter and caries was measured using Klein def-t index. Data were analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis test. The results showed that 78,7% of normal children had a mean def-t score of 4.12± 2.30, 18,4% of stunted children had a mean def-t score of 5,47±2,31, while 2,9% of severely stunted children had the highest mean def-t score of 5,80±1,64. Statistical analysis showed a significant association between stunting and the caries experience of deciduous teeth in 36-60 months children in Unte Mungkur III and IV Villages, Kolang District, Central Tapanuli Regency (p=0,003). It can be concluded that the shorter the stunted child, the higher the caries experinece.
