dc.description.abstract | Microplastic is one of the polluting materials which becomes a threat in the ecosystems of waters and the research subjects of environmentalists all over the world in these previous years. Besides its dangerous substance. microplastic also has hydrophobic characteristic and chemical substance such as Persistent Organic Pollutants which are stuck to micro-plastic. It causes pollution of chemical substance on the waters. Lake Siombak is the lake located in the coastal area of Medan. It is predicted that it will be the distribution line to the waters. The objective of the research is to analyze micro-plastic spill o water, sediment, and fish in Lake Siombak and to give suggestion for managing the lake in decreasing the effect of microplastic. The samples are NaCI 90 g of water in Lake Siombak, taken from November, 2021 until January, 2022. They are sorted and separated visually by using microscope. Microplastic in the sediment is separated in some steps: drying. volume decreasing, density separation, filtration, and visual observation. The fish are cut open and their digestive organs are diluted with 10 ml of saturated NaCI. Microplastic spill on the waters is about 42 to 263 particles/m3, microplastic spill in the sediment is about 521 to 1481 particles/kg of dry sediment whereas microplastic spill in the fish digestive organs is about 0 to 6 individual particles. Based on the SWOT analysis, it is recommended that WT strategy be used since it is based on the effort to minimize the weaknesses and handle threat. | en_US |
