dc.description.abstractPurines are mostly obtained from food. Eating pattern containing with excessive purines level is a factor that causes gout. People are not aware that excessive consumption of purines can increase uric acid level in the blood such as eating frequency, food types, and amount of food. This quantitative research employs descriptive design and total sampling technique. The research aims to describe uric acid levels in the elderly in Gunung Meriah village. The results of this study indicates that many pre-elderly suffer from a high level of uric acid. It can be seen from the data that 70% of the total samples suffer from a high level of uric acid, namely 4 males (13%) and 17 females (57%). In general, the description of uric acid level in pre-elderly in Gunung Meriah Village falls into high category. Therefore, it is suggested that the people improve their eating patterns that contain excessive purines both in terms of eating frequency, food types, and amount of food.en_US
