dc.description.abstract | The main focus of this study is to analyze the incidence of hypertension and the risk factors that contribute to the high rate of hypertension in PP Marihat village, Ujung Padang Sub-district, Simalungun Regency. This study uses a correlative descriptive method with a cross-sectional design to examine the correlation between the independent variables (risk factors) and the dependent variable. The main discussion topic in this study is the correlation of age, gender, family history of hypertension, salty food consumption habits, fatty food consumption habits, stress levels, exercise habits, and smoking habits to the incidence of hypertension. Based on the results of the study, there are 5 risk factors associated with the incidence of hypertension and 3 other factors are irrelevant. The analysis using the Chi-Square statistical test obtains the results of 5 factors that have a correlation with the incidence of hypertension in the residents of PP Marihat Village in 2023. They are age with p-value=0.002; OR 4.971, family history of hypertension with p-value=0.001; OR=4.971, consumption of salty foods with p- value=0.009; OR 3.450, consumption of fatty foods with p-value=0.004; OR= 3.987, stress with p-value=0.001; OR 5,731. 3 other factors do not correlate with the incidence of hypertension in the residents of PP Marihat Village in 2023, namely gender with p-value= 0.901, exercise habits with p-value= 0.906, and smoking habits with p-value= 0.890. | en_US |
