Hubungan Lingkar Pinggang dengan Tekanan Darah pada Masyarakat di Kelurahan Persiakan Kecamatan Padang Hulu Kota Tebing Tinggi

Abstract

Central obesity is a condition where fat accumulates in the abdominal area. Central obesity is at risk because fat in the abdominal (visceral) area can increase the risk of developing hypertension. Central obesity can be measured by waist circumference. The objective of this study is to determine the correlation and the correlation strength between waist circumference and blood pressure. This study is an analytic descriptive study with a cross-sectional approach. Samples are taken by using the Purposive Sampling technique with a sample of 43 people in Persiakan Village, Padang Hulu Subdistrict, Tebing Tinggi City. The results of statistical analysis on male subjects are obtained for waist circumference with systolic blood pressure (p=0.071) and diastolic (p=0.629), while for female subjects the results for waist circumference with systolic blood pressure (r= 0.559, p=0.001) and diastolic (r=0.572, p=0.001). The results of this study show that there is no correlation between waist circumference and systolic and diastolic blood pressure in male subjects, and there is a significant correlation between waist circumference and systolic and diastolic blood pressure in a positive correlation direction with a strong correlation in female subjects.
