dc.description.abstractBackground: Striae distensae (SD) is a skin disorder that become aesthetic concern nowadays. To date there is no gold standart therapy for this disorder. Striae distensae therapy aims to induce dermal collagen production, repair tissue strength, increasing of elasticity and skin hydration. Green tea (Camellia sinensis linn) is a herbal product that gain recognition because of its advantage for skin. Green tea contain catechin, phenolic acid, ascorbic acid and linoleate acid which play a role in the repair of SD benefit in anti-inflammatory mechanisms, antioxidant activity, stimulates fibroblast proliferation, epithelialization and collagen synthesis. Objetive: To determine the effect of 3% green tea extract cream (Camellia sinensis linn) on striae distensae. Methods: This pre-experimental clinical trial study was conducted with a pretestposttest design on 36 striae distensae subjects. Diagnosis was made through history taking and clinical evaluation. INA score was used as evaluation for SD severity before and after the administration of 3% green tea extract cream, carried out at weeks 0, 2, 4, 6, and 8. Side effects and satisfaction levels were recorded during study. Cochran test was carried out to see the difference before and after treatment with a p-value <0.05, is considered significant. Results: The majority of the subjects age ranged from 18 to 25 years (77.8%), the majority of subjects had history of pregnancy (75%), the majority of subjects had a history of menarche at the age of 12 years (27.8%) and all subjects had striae alba (100%). There was significant decrease in INA score for patient with striae distensae (p<0.001) after eight weeks administration of 3% green tea extract cream. Clinical improvement and no side effects were also noted. Based on the level of satisfaction all subjects feel satisfied. Conclusion: The use of 3% green tea extract cream can improve the appearance of SD and the use of this extract showed no side effects and all of the subjects feel satisfied.en_US
