Gambaran Tingkat Stres pada Penderita Hipertensi di Lingkungan I Kelurahan Payaroba Binjai Barat
Abstract
Hypertension is a condition with an abnormal increase in blood pressure caused by one or more risk factors of blood pressure increase. Stress is one of the factors causing hypertension and the individual who has a tendency to stress has a bigger chance to have blood pressure increase. The research aims to find out the description of stress levels in patients with hypertension in Lingkungan I Kelurahan Payaroba, Binjai Barat. The research employs a quantitative descriptive method and the population are hypertension patients in Lingkungan I Kelurahan Payaroba, Binjai Barat. The research sample is conducted using the Nonprobability Sampling technique which is Total Sampling. The instrument used in this research is DASS (Depression Anxiety Stress Scales) questionnaire. The result indicates the majority of respondents are in the age range of >50 years namely 19 people (54.3%). Based on gender, the majority of respondents are females namely 30 people (86.7%); based on education, the majority of respondents graduated from elementary school namely 16 people (45.7%); and based on occupation, the majority of respondents are housewives namely 26 people (74.3%). In addition, the majority of respondents suffer from stage II hypertension namely 15 people (42.9%). Most hypertension patients have a high- stress level. Hypertension patients, especially aged >50, understand that stress can trigger an increase in blood pressure so it is suggested that the next researchers develop this research result regarding stress management in hypertension patients.
