Hubungan Pemberian Asi Eksklusif dengan Kejadian Diare pada Bayi Usia 6-60 Bulan di Wilayah Puskesmas Rambung Merah Kabupaten Simalungun

Abstract

Breastfeeding with exclusive ASI (breast milk) is intended to prevent babies from diarrhea. Its content can increase a baby's immunity against various diseases, including diarrhea. Diarrhea is a condition when a baby defecates frequently. more than three times a day with feces in the form of liquid. Therefore, implementing exclusive ASI is important since many women do not practice it. The objective of the research is to find out the correlation between breastfeeding with exclusive ASI and the incidence of diarrhea in 6-60-month-old babies in the working area of Rambung Merah Puskesmas, Simalungun Regency. The research uses an observational quantitative analytic approach with a cross-sectional design, using chi-square test. The samples are 100 women who have 6-60-month- old babies at Rambung Merah village, taken by using simple random sampling technique with chi-square test. The result of the research shows that the majority of babies are not breastfed with exclusive ASI and most of them suffer from diarrhea. The result of the statistic test shows that there is a significant correlation between breastfeeding with exclusive ASI and the incidence of diarrhea in 6-60-month-old babies in the working area of Rambung Merah Puskesmas at p-value <0.05 (p=0.001). The conclusion is that there is a correlation between breastfeeding with exclusive ASI and the incidence of diarrhea. It is recommended that women breastfeed with exclusive ASI until their babies are six months old. People should not apply the culture of giving MP ASI (Supplementary Food) in babies before they are six months old.
