Introduction: Treatment for post-burn contractures is contracture release, scar excision and skin grafting closure with or without a local flap. Physical changes that often occur are deformities that can cause problems such as pain, limited flexion, extension and rotation of the neck area. Researchers are interested in examining the comparison of early and delayed surgical intervention for the treatment of burns on adult hands based on grip and pinch function. Methods: This study is an analytical study using systematic review and metaanalysis methods that analyze comparisons of early and delayed surgical interventions for the treatment of burns on adult hands based on grip and pinch function. The meta-analytic assessment was used with Review Manager software version 5.4 (Cochrane, Oxford, UK). Odds ratios are considered statistically significant if the p value <0.05. Results: There was a significant difference in grip strength between early and delayed surgery with the mean difference being 6.31 and the p value below 0.05. (MD: 651; 95% CI, 3.96 – 8.65; z = 5.9; p <0.001) and there was a significant difference in pinch strength between early and delayed surgery with a mean difference value of 25.2 and a p value below 0.05. (MD: 25.2; 95% CI, 20.45 – 30.59; z = 9.86; p < 0.001). Conclusion: Early surgical intervention is better than delayed surgical intervention for the management of adult hand burns based on grip and pinch function.en_US
