dc.description.abstractAccording to WHO, health is a physical, mental, and social condition of prosperity which makes a person socially and economically productive so that the highest standard of public health can be achieved. A preventive effort can be made to prevent transmitted diseases by keeping hygienic. Personal hygiene is an effort to take care of one's self which can influence his health in his daily activities. The objective of the research is to find out personal hygiene behavior in elementary school-aged children at SDN 168234, Tebing Tinggi. The research used descriptive analytic design. The samples are 62 students at this school, taken by using total sampling technique. The data are analyzed by using univariate analysis in order to find out the distribution frequency of personal hygiene behavior. The result of the research shows that 54.8% of the respondents had negative attitude. It is recommended that the school management, especially the teachers and the UKS personnel, provide counseling and health education regularly, especially about the importance of personal hygiene in school-aged children.en_US
