Hubungan Pengetahuan dan Sikap Terhadappencegahan HIV/AIDS di Kampung Nelayan Seberang Kecamatan Medan Belawan

Abstract

Health is an indicator of the welfare of a society or a nation. One of the aspects which has recently brought about illness caused by HIV virus can cause AIDS. The objective of the research is to find out the correlation of knowledge and attitude with prevention for HIV/AIDS. The research uses analytical survey method with cross-sectional design. The samples are 96 respondents at Kampung Nelayan Seberang, Medan-Belawan Sub-district, taken by using random sampling technique. The research instrument is questionnaire. The data are analyzed by using univariate and bivariate analysis with chi-square test. The result of research shows that 65 respondents (67,7%) have moderate knowledge and 55 respondents (57,3%) have negative attitude. There is significant correlation between attitude and prevention from HIV/AIDS. Attitude toward prevention from HIV/AIDS is the most important factor which influences people’s behavior in preventing HIV/AIDS. It is recommended that people be able to apply their attitude toward preventing HIV/AIDS transmitted infection.
