Gambaran Tingkat Kecemasan Lansia terhadap Hipertensi di Kelurahan Pasar Baru Kecamatan Tebing Tinggi Kota

Abstract

As the elderly grow older, their body organ capacity decreases, including cardiovascular system such as heart and blood vessel. They are commonly affected by hypertension; it can cause psychological disorder and anxiety since hypertension prognosis becomes bad when they grow older. Hypertension is a chronic disease commonly occurs in the elderly. Anxiety caused by hypertension can cause the decrease in concentration and make them restless about their life and health. The objective of the research is to find out elderly's level of anxiety on hypertension at Kelurahan Pasar Baru, Tebing Tinggi Sub-district. The research employs descriptive method with questionnaire containing 30 questions. The population is 30 elderly people, and all of them serve as the samples, taken by using total sampling technique. The data are analyzed by using univariate analysis. They are gathered from November to December, 2022. The result of the research shows that most of the respondents who undergo moderate anxiety are females because their perception area on hypertension became narrower so that they get muscle tension and the increase in vital signs such as blood and pulse pressure.
