dc.description.abstract | Sumatran tigers currently face various threats such as deteriorating habitat quality and quantity as a result of forest conversion, exploitation, and forest encroachment, as well as increased poaching. Bukit Mas Village, Besitang District, Langkat Regency is one of the villages that is quite close to the Gunung Leuser National Park (GLNP) area. Sumatran tigers often leave the forest and enter into community settlements in Bukit Mas Village which causes human and tiger conflicts. This study aims to analyze community perceptions of human and Sumatran tiger conflicts and to explain the form of community mitigation in human and Sumatran tiger conflicts. In this research, the method used is descriptive quantitative method with sampling using non probability sampling technique which is purposive sampling type. The results of the study explain that the existence of conflict can affect people's perceptions of the existence of Sumatran tigers. The challenge of Sumatran tiger conservation is quite large. The community considers that tigers are not beneficial to people's lives because tigers disturb public order. Age and latest education have no correlation (relationship) with community perceptions. Socialization or counseling efforts are still needed to build low public awareness of the benefits of tiger existence and efforts to make anti-tiger cattle cages that still depend on local Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) are still high compared to making anti-tiger cattle cages independently. | en_US |
