Hubungan Intensitas Penggunaan Media Sosial dengan Sindrom Fomo (Fear of Missing Out) pada Remaja

Abstract

As time passes by, social media has experienced rapid development. As a result, numerous people today use social media in their daily lives, especially adolescents. FOMO syndrome is strongly connected to the feeling of anxiety that occurs due to fear of missing moments or trends that spread on the internet. This is closely related to teenagers who are at high risk of suffering from FoMO syndrome as research results prove that teenagers are one of the biggest users of social media. This study aims to identify the correlation between the intensity of social media use and FoMO syndrome in adolescents. This study employs a Literature Review method using articles from the last 10 years, Full Text and has a quantitative design study with a correlative approach originating from I database, namely Google Scholar. This study finds 8 articles that meet the criteria and from those articles, it is discovered that there is a significant correlation between intensity of use of social media and FOMO syndrome in adolescents. The high use of social media in adolescents causes them to be at high risk of suffering the FOMO syndrome. Excessive use of social media makes adolescents feel anxious and leads to dependence on the use of social media. It is hoped that adolescents can use their social media within safe limits to avoid the risk of suffering from FoMO syndrome.
