Gambaran Nyeri Punggung pada Pekerja Pengupas Kelapa di Dusun VII Desa Kapias Batu VIII Kabupaten Asahan
Abstract
Backache is caused by musculoskeletal disorder, due to the mechanical problems in muscles, bones, joints, or ligaments in the back, indicated by painful feeling along the spine, from the neck to the lower spine. It is also caused by the ergonomic imbalance during working which makes the transfer of energy from muscles to the bone tissues not efficient. The objective of the research is to find out the description of backache based on sex, age, work per day, and the length of service in coconut peeling workers at Dusun VII, Kapias Batu VIII Village, Asahan Regency. The research employs descriptive quantitative method with cross sectional design. The population is 37 coconut peeling workers at Dusun VII, Kapias Batu VIII Village and all of them serve as the samples, taken by using total sampling technique. The data are processed by using chi-square statistic test and fisher test at a = 0.05. The result of the research indicates that 19 respondents (51,4%) have the risk of undergoing backache, and 18 respondents (48,6%) do not. It is recommended that the coconut peeling workers minimize job accident and illness caused by working.
