Background : Chronic hepatitis B describes the spectrum of diseases that are usually characterized by the presence of Hepatitis B Surface Antigen (HBsAg) detected in the blood. The parameters that change in this case are RDW (Red cell Distribution Width) and Lymphocytes. This research Analyzes RDW averages in chronic hepatitis B patients with and from hepatic cirrhosis.
Subjects and Method: This research is observational research, Analytics with sectional design, as many as 95 chronic Hepatitis B patients meet Research criteria with technique Consecutive. Independent variables are Chronic B Hepatitis, dependent variable is HBsAg, RDW and Lymphocytes. Research in Carried out at RSUP H. Adam Malik Medan from Mart 2023-Mei 2023. Patient in anamnesis Then a blood sample is taken for Complete blood test (RDW an Lymphocytes) and HBsAg examination. Data In numerical form will be analyzed Based on the distribution. Uji Kolmogorov-Smirnoff while RDW and Lymphocytes in Chronic hepatitis B patients cirrhosis and non Cirrhosis is presented through the Mann-Whitne test.
Results : From the study subjects of 95 people, a total of 63 patients (64.9%) were male, and 32 patients (33%) were female. A total of 48 patients (49.5%) were patients with hepatic cirrhosis, while 47 patients (48.5%) The results of the analysis showed that there was a significant difference between the cirrhosis and non-cirrhosis groups in terms of absolute lymphocyte count. (P = 0.017) and RDW/lymphocyte ratio (P = 0,016). In the cirrhosis patient group, the absolute lymphocyte count was significantly lower compared to the non-sirosis group. In contrast, the RDW/lymphocyte ratio in the cirrhosis group showed significantly higher values compared to the non-sirosis group.
Conclusion: There was a significant difference in the RDW/ lymphocyte ratio between the group of hepatitis B patients with cirrhosis and without cirrhosis.
