Pneumonia is a common disease in developing countries that affects around 450 million people every year. The most common cause of pneumonia is gram-negative bacilli, which have endotoxins that can be released into the plasma, namely Lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Translocation of toxins into the blood circulation results in the activation of neutrophils, macrophages accompanied by excessive release of inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α, IFN-γ, IL-1β, and IL-6 which are signs of inflammatory reactions. This study aims to determine the anti-inflammatory effect of sambiloto extract on pneumonia model rats induced with intratracheal LPS. This study was a true experimental using male wistar rats aged 12-16 weeks weighing 200-300 grams. The rats were divided into 5 groups, the standard group was not induced with LPS, given NaCl intratracheally, the negative control group was induced with LPS E. Coli 2 mg/kgBB intratracheally and CMC 0.5%, the positive control group was induced with LPS E. Coli 2 mg/kgBB intratracheally and CMC 0.5%, the positive control group was induced with LPS E. Coli 2 mg/kgBB intratracheally. Coli 2 mg/kgBB intratracheal and Dexamethasone 5mg/KgBB, group P1 induced LPS E. Coli 2 mg/kgBB intratracheal and 600 mg/kgBB sambiloto extract, group P2 induced LPS E. Coli 2 mg/kgBB intratracheal and 900 mg/kgBB sambiloto extract. The results of this study showed the results of histological assessment of the degree of inflammation of lung tissue that differed significantly (P <0.05) with the degree of inflammation getting better with increasing doses.en_US
