dc.description.abstractBackground : The prevalence of eating disorders in the normal adult population varies from 2% to 5%, but this proportion increases to 50% among obese adults seeking weight reduction. Riskesdas data for the year In 2018, it was discovered that obesity was experienced by one in five elementary school age children and one in seven teenagers in Indonesia. Research found that as many as 67.8% of teenage girls experienced eating disorders and 49.5% experienced moderate to severe stress. The university environment, especially master's students who take specialist Faculty of Medicine University of North Sumatra can cause psychological, academic, competition and problems social . Measuring psychological distress is critical for monitoring the mental health of individuals and populations at specific points in time and in determining levels and determinants of mental health trends over time. From the explanation above, researchers are interested in examining the relationship between psychological distress scores and the binge eating scale in Master of Clinical Medicine students at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara. Methods: Sampling used probability sampling type systematic sampling, carried out on 59 subjects of Master of Clinical Medicine students, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara. After data collection, a normality test was carried out using the Kolmogorof-Smirnof test, because the number of samples was more than 50 (n>50). If the data is normally distributed, data analysis will be carried out using the Pearson Correlation test. If the data is not normally distributed, data analysis is carried out using the Spearman correlation test. Data processing was carried out with the help of SPSS software. Results: Correlation between place stay and BES on Master of Medicine Student Clinic Faculty Medical University of North Sumatra It can be seen that the F calculated value is 93.88 and F table is 3.15 where F calculated > F table. The conclusion is drawn that Ho is accepted or there is a correlation with a value of r= 0.75 ( strong correlation strength ) . Correlation between BMI and BES in Master of Medicine Student Clinic Faculty Medical University of North Sumatra totaling 59 people with r value = 0.747 and p value = 0.0001 is significant or there is correlation ( strength correlation strong ). Correlation between BMI and K-10 in Student Medical Clinic Faculty Medical University of North Sumatra. With a sample of 59 people with r value = 0.275 and p value = 0.035, so the data can be concluded meaningful in a way statistics . Correlation positive ( power correlation weak). Conclusion: There is a correlation between place of residence and BMI and obesity with binge eating and a correlation between the BMI scale and K-10 in Master of Clinical Medicine students at the Faculty of Medicine, University of North Sumatra who are overweight and obese.en_US
