dc.description.abstract | This research focuses on studying the Bakar Tongkang tradition among the Chinese community in Bagansiapi-api City, Rokan Hilir Regency, Riau Province (1990-2012). This research explains the beginnings of the Bakar Barge Tradition, the development of the Bakar Barge Tradition from year to year, and the lives of the people living around the area where the Bakar Barge Tradition is held. This research was created with the aim of explaining the background of the Bakar Tongkang ritual, the development of the Bakar Tongkang ritual, and the meaning of the Bakar Tongkang ritual. The benefit of this research is to increase insight for readers and explain the meaning of the Bakar Tongkang Tradition for ethnic Chinese and various opinions of people outside of ethnic Chinese. The method used in this research is historical methods, namely Heuristics, Criticism, Interpretation, Historiography. This data source was obtained through library research and field research. Literature study uses books, documents, reports through interviews with primary and secondary sources. The results of this research explain that the tradition of barbeque burning is widely known by the wider community in the city of Bagansiapi-api, even in Riau province. The Bakar Tongkang tradition has an interesting history to study and disseminate to the public. The conclusion of this research is that the Barge Burning Tradition is a tradition of burning ships which is still visited by local people and people outside. | en_US |
