The purpose of this paper is to describe the performance of the "tortor
usihan buyut mangan sihala" (a traditional dance form), provide a description of
its movement structure, and explore the relationship between the accompanying
music and the dance structure performed by the Sanggar Sayur Matua dance
troupe. To address these objectives, the author employs several theories. The
performance of "tortor usihan buyut mangan sihala" is described using Milton
Singer's theory, while Martin and Pesovar's structural morphology theory is
utilized to explain the movement structure of the dance. Furthermore, Curt Sachs'
theory is employed to describe the relationship between the accompanying music
and the dance structure. The research methodology used in this study is a
qualitative descriptive approach. Data collection involves interviews,
observations, documentation, and literature studies. The results of this research
reveal a description of the "tortor usihan buyut mangan sihala" performance,
which involves the participation of one or more dancers accompanied by the
"ansambel gondrang sipitu" (traditional music ensemble) performing the
"repertoar gual targojok-gojok." The dance's movement structure comprises
seven different motion variations and other entertaining elements.
