dc.description.abstractThis study aimed to describe the Code Mixing in Covid-19 Pandemic Facebook Posts using Appraisal Attitude that may be seen on Facebook, a social networking site. The questions for inquiry include the forms and justifications for code mixing in social networking sites like Facebook. The descriptive qualitative approach is the strategy the researcher employs to analyze the data. In order to facilitate a thorough analysis, the researcher codes the selected code mixing by assigning code numbers after reading the status, comment, or message on Facebook that contains the Code Mixing in Covid-19 Pandemic Facebook Posts using Appraisal Attitude. The types of words, phrases, hybrids, word reduplications, idioms, and sentences where English is inserted have been recognized and also analyze using appraisal attitude. The reasons of using code mixing are bilingualism, speaker and partner speaking, social community, habit/situation, vocabulary, prestige. The achievement of this research is expected to be an additional source of code mixing and also developing code mixing field in the next research. As a result, the appraisal framework enables comprehensive explanations of the specific evaluating mechanisms at work in each individual text as well as nuanced analyses of how texts are similar or different in light of their unique evaluative arrangements. As a result, it provides the potential for fresh perspectives on a variety of topics, including how texts shape individual and group identities, how they are evaluated, how speakers and writers may handle power and solidarity relationships, and how texts that aim to persuade and sway public opinion operate.en_US
