Biodegradable plastic made from curcuma aeruginosa roxb. rhizome starch-chitosan with the addition of sorbitol plasticizer is made by mixing curcuma aeruginosa roxb starch matrix, sorbitol as a plasticizer, and chitosan as a filler through the melt intercalation method. Curcuma aeruginosa roxb starch as a result of the preparation was dried at 600C The materials used were made into a gel and heated process at 800C for 40 minutes. The resulting biodegradable plastic samples were dried at 70oC for 40 minutes. Based on the research that has been done, the results show that the addition of chitosan and sorbitol has an effect on the characteristics of the plastic. The best tensile strength quality test results on PKS biodegradable plastic that is equal to 4.03 MPa. The best percentage of elongation in PKS biodegradable plastic is 99.68%. The best PKS biodegradable plastic water resistance is 83.33%. And the best biodegradability of biodegradable plastics without the addition of sorbitol is 100% for 9 days. FTIR test results show that bioplastics have the same wavelength as their constituent raw materials. This shows that the resulting film only interacts physically. Analysis SEM shows white dots and indentations on the surface of biodegradable plastic. This indicates that the curcuma aeruginosa roxb starch in the biodegradable plastic has not completely dissolved so that the curcuma aeruginosa roxb biodegradable plastic has an uneven surface.
