Anomali Cuaca Ekstrim pada Bulan Februari 2022 terhadap Karakteristik Hujan di Kota Medan
Abstract
Medan City is an area that experiences flooding almost every year. February is climatologically
the first peak of the dry season in the North Sumatra region, but floods can still occur. In this
study the authors analyzed the characteristics of rainfall patterns that occurred during extreme
rainfall that occurred in the Medan area on February 27, 2022 which had an impact on flooding
in several areas in Medan with Pearson correlation. The data used are rainfall data, satellite,
radar and other atmospheric dynamics analysis data. Based on the dynamics analysis on
February 27, 2022 there was a supply of water vapor from the Indian Ocean region to western
Indonesia, from the wind analysis there was a weather disturbance in the form of low pressure
in the West Indian Ocean region of Sumatra causing wind turns in the Medan area in particular
and supported by unstable upper air conditions. Cumulunimbus (CB) cloud growth begins at
14.00 WIB reaching its peak at 17.00 WIB, the rain lasts long enough to cause
hydrometeorological disasters (floods). The Pearson correlation coefficient method is used to
analyze the relationship between rainfall and DMI, ENSO, SST Anomalies and SOI conditions,
from the correlation results in February that affect rainfall is ENSO with a correlation value of
0.362 and SST Anomalies with a correlation value of 0.375. Based on the calculation of the
double variable correlation in February, it is included in the weak category with a correlation
value of 0.390, namely ENSO and SOI. For the results of the correlation of 4 variables in
February in the medium category with a correlation value of 0.418. If the weather disturbance
conditions of the four variables are active, it is enough to affect rainfall in the Medan city area.
