dc.description.abstract | Value chain is the most important part in running a business, including in
agribusiness. And also defined as a process of distributing goods or services from
producers to consumers through processes carried out by each trading system so
as to increase the added value of agricultural products.
This study aims to explain the rice value chain system, analyze the level of efficiency
of the rice value chain channel, analyze the problems that occur in the rice Value
chain channel system and the reasons for farmers choosing the rice value chain
channel in Desa Kota Datar, Kecamatan Hamparan Perak, Kabupaten Deli
Serdang. The determination of the farmer’s sample uses proportional clustered
method and the snowball sampling method for value chain institutions. The method
used to determine the efficiency level of the value chain system is the farmer's share
method. The results of the study show that: There are two channels of Value chain
system with each value chain institutions having a role, they are farmers, agents,
rice refineries, rice traders (wholesalers), retailers and consumers; The rice value
chain system in channel I was not efficient, while channel II was efficient; The
reason of farmers choosing a long value chain channel, because they location is
close to the agent, hard to get a relations with the rice refinery and the selling price
