Pengaruh Pemberian Tepung Daun Pepaya (Carica papaya Linn) dalam Ransum terhadap Kualitas Kimia Daging Ayam Broiler
Abstract
Broiler chickens or better known as broilers are one type of poultry that
produces meat as protein for human. Papaya leaves can be used as a good feed
ingredient in broiler poultry rations because they have high protein. This study
aims to examine the administration of papaya leaf flour in rations to the chemical
quality of broiler chicken meat. This research was conducted at the Research and
Entrepreneurial Cage of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra,
the Technology Research Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture and the Animal
Production Laboratory, the Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra.
Using 100 chickens reared for 5 weeks. The design used was a completely
randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications. Treatment with
various levels of papaya leaf powder consisted of P0 : control; P1: 1.5% papaya
leaf powder; P2: 2.5% papaya leaf powder and P3: 3.5% papaya leaf powder.
Parameters studied were meat water content, protein content and fat content.
The results showed that the treatment had a highly significant effect
(P<0.05) on the fat content and the protein content of the meat, but did not give a
significant difference (P>0.05) on the moisture content of broiler chickens meat.
The conclusion of this study is that giving papaya leaf flour in rations can
increase protein levels and reduce fat levels but has not affected the moisture
content of broiler chicken meat.
