dc.description.abstractBackground: Crime is a form of social deviation that harms society. Currently, the number of crimes that occur and develop in the community has increased can be seen by the rampant reporting of crime cases in various newspapers and electronic media. Objective: This study aims to detect the magnitude of these factors both directly and indirectly on the crime rate Method: One statistical analysis that can be used to analyze the causal relationship of several variables is path analysis. Result: The path diagram structure equation formed is Y2= 0,120198468x1 +0,135256843X2−1,045640569X3+0,521702011Y1 + 0,6745375813 Conclusion: Based on the results of data analysis that has been carried out, it turns out that the four variables, namely education, school dropout rates, poverty and unemployment have a real influence on the crime rate in North Sumatra.
