dc.description.abstract | The number of occupational accidents in Indonesia reaches 114,000 cases in
2019 and this number increases to 177,000 cases in 2020. There are 23,313 cases
accured in West Sumatera and 1,597 cases in the City of Padang in 2020. Based
on the data of SPSI (Indonesia’s Workers Union) of Pasar Raya Padang, there is
an increase number of occupational accidents suffered by porters in 2020 that
reaches 35 people, 22 people in 2019, and 11 people in 2018. The research aims
at analysing the factors influencing the occupational accidents in porters in the
Area of Pasar Raya Padang in 2022. This quantitave and analytical research is
conducted using cross sectional approach. The research is carried out from July
2021 until August 2022. All porters in the Area of Pasar Raya Padang are used as
research population consisting of 114 people and the samples are 89 people. The
research samples are collected using simple random sampling technique and data
collection instruments are questionnaires and OWAS checklist sheet. Data
obtained are analysed using multiple logistic regression test. The results indicate
that the load weight ((p=0.0001), physical condition (p=0.002), working attitude
(p=0.001), human error (p=0.002) influence the incidents of occupational
accidents in porters of Pasar Raya Padang area. Variable that mostly influences
the incidents of occupational accidents is load weight because it has the highest
Exp.B value at 6.877. It is suggested that all porters pay attention to the weight of
load they should carry in accordance to the applied regulation and their ability to
carry, as well as the correct way to carry the load. In addition, it is recommended
to do exercise for their health before working and have enough rest time | en_US |
