Kajian Pengembangan Kawasan Peternakan Kambing dan Domba di Kecamatan Hinai Kabupaten Langkat

Abstract

Hinai District is one of the goat and sheep producing areas in North Sumatra. This study aims to identify livestock resources, base or non-base areas and the capacity of goat and sheep livestock and find the right strategy for developing goat and sheep business in Hinai District. The method used in this research is the Stratification method (stratified sampling) in all villages in Hinai District and the purposive sampling method in the three villages with the most, medium and few, namely Batu Melenggang Village, Suka Damai Timur, and Pepper Gardens. as a method of determining the area. Data analysis was carried out by descriptive analysis, location quotient (LQ), livestock density, feed concentration index (IKP), waste production analysis, agricultural waste carrying capacity index analysis (IDDLP), ruminant livestock population increase capacity (KPPTR) and SWOT analysis. The results of this study indicate that livestock resources in Hinai District have the potential to develop goat and sheep farming businesses. There are 5 villages which are base areas for goats and 8 villages which are base areas for sheep. The goat and sheep development strategy is divided into two regions based on the LQ, IKP, IDDLP and KPPTR values.
