A Description of Ulos Hela in Batak Toba Wedding Ceremony

Abstract

This study explains the procedure or stages of giving Ulos Hela at a Batak Toba wedding ceremony and describes the symbolic meaning of giving Ulos Hela at a Batak Toba Wedding Ceremony. This research method used a qualitative descriptive method to find out and analyze data by reading the data, describing the collected data, and making conclusions. Data were collected through interview techniques with the informant's understanding of ulos hela and observing the stages of giving Ulos Hela at Batak Toba weddings. The results of this study indicate that Ulos Hela has many symbols is channeling blessing through requests and prayers for the bride and groom and their families, a symbol of family attachment in worship communication, and the meaning of uniting the extended family relationships of the groom and the bride.
