dc.description.abstract | This research is entitled "Perceptions of Male Journalists About the Profession of Female
Journalists at Online Alert". The purpose of this study was to find out the perceptions of
male journalists at Waspada Online regarding the profession of female journalists and to
find out the factors underlying the perceptions of Waspada Online journalists regarding
the profession of female journalists. This research is based on the theory of perception
which is divided into three components, namely: cognitive component, conative component
and affective component. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method using the case
study method. There were three informants in this study, namely; male journalist Alert
Online. The data collection techniques used were in-depth interviews and observation. The
data analysis techniques used in this research are data condensation, data presentation
and conclusions. The validity of the data was obtained using source triangulation and
engineering triangulation techniques. The results of the study show that based on the
perceptual aspect reviewed in the cognitive component, male journalists perceive that
gender equality is very important in the journalistic industry. When viewed in terms of the
affective component of male journalists, it gives the perception that female journalists at
Waspada Online tend to have a higher sensitivity to emotional nuances in stories. When
viewed in terms of the conative component of male journalists, it gives the perception that
female journalists have privileges in developing good relationships with sources. The
perception of male journalists about female journalists being alert online is based on
culture, past experiences of the audience or audience, espoused values and also based on
news reports that are developing about female journalists. | en_US |
