Tradisi Peusijuek Kendaraan Pada Masyarakat Aceh (Studi Deskriptif di Desa Alue Dua, Kota Langsa)

Abstract

In Acehnese society, there is a tradition called peusijuek. One type of peusijuek that is still practiced is peusijuek vehicle. Peusijuek vehicle is carried out by sprinkling water and scattering other materials on a person and his vehicle as a human gratitude to God. The purpose of this research is to get the meaning and significance of peusijuek vehicle, the form of peusijuek vehicle implementation, and what changes have occurred in its implementation. This research method uses a qualitative approach by conducting observations and in-depth interviews with several informants. The informants involved were 8 people with the criteria of being Acehnese and having carried out the peusijuek vehicle tradition. The results of this study found that there are factors for the implementation of peusijuek vehicle, steps, tools and materials for peusijuek vehicle, figures who play a role and changes that occur in the peusijuek vehicle tradition. Analysis of the results of this study found that peusijuek vehicle is an cultural heritage and local wisdom of the Acehnese ethnicity, in which there are values, norms and symbols to represent the Acehnese ethnicity. This tradition has a hidden prestige value. The discussion of this research expects further research so that peusijuek vehicle are included in the data collection of Acehnese ethnic cultural heritage.
