dc.description.abstract | This research aims to determine the procedures for implementing puasa
mutih and the perception of the effectiveness of puasa mutih for the beauty of the
bride.
This research uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques
through observation, documentation and in-depth interviews face-to-face and via
Google Meet.
The results of this research show that there are changes that have occurred in
the Javanese marriage process, especially the puasa mutih carried out by ethnic
Javanese in the city of Medan. This is influenced by their knowledge of puasa
mutih, and the availability of new types of white food. There are several
perceptions of the prospective bride and groom and their families regarding the
effectiveness of puasa mutih in providing an aura of beauty. Therefore, the
implementation of puasa mutih is an agreement between the family and the bride.
The discussion of this research hopes for further research regarding the
benefits of white food consumed during puasa mutih , and its relation to beauty.
The conclusion of this research explains that in puasa mutih there are
Javanese ethnic values and norms. So observing puasa mutih is one of the steps to
preserve Javanese culture. | en_US |
