Dampak Konversi Tanaman Karet Menjadi Tanaman Kelapa Sawit Bagi Kesejahteraan Petani (Studi: di Desa Hiteurat, Kec. Halongonan, Kab. Padang Lawas Utara)

Abstract

Since fungal bacteria attacked rubber plants and the level of welfare of rubber farmers has decreased, rubber farming communities have tried to make changes in their livelihoods because they are closely related to changes and have an impact on the condition of the level of economic welfare of their families. Then the farmers converted their rubber plantations into oil palm plantations. The purpose of this study was to determine and analyze the impact of converting rubber plantations into oil palm plantations for the welfare of farmers in Hiteurat Village, Halongonan District, North Padang Lawas Regency. Based on the findings obtained in the field, there was an increase in income after farmers converted to oil palm because rubber farming could not produce good quality rubber. There was a decline in investment because some farmers used capital to pay for maintenance of plantation land, such as buying fertilizer and oil palm seeds. For education, oil palm farmers are able to provide proper and good education, even up to university and graduate. Families become prosperous after farmers convert to oil palm plantations.
