A Description of Incest Origin in The Legend of Siboru Pareme in Batak Society

Abstract

This study discusses the incest between siblings and also biological children in legends that existed in ancient Batak society. The author seeks to find out what incest is and the origins of incest in the Siboru Pareme legend. This study aims to find out what happened to the ancient Batak society with the occurrence of inbreeding and who the perpetrators were as well as their descendants. This research method uses a qualitative descriptive method to find and collect and analyze data by reading the data and then asking for information, describing the collected data, and finally making conclusions. The results of this study are that there are many Batak clans born of incest in the Siboru Pareme legend and what social sanctions or norms are received by the perpetrators of incest.
