dc.description.abstractSipirok Botanical Garden is one of the ex-situ conservation areas in North Sumatra Province that has a diversity of plant species, one of which is Orchidaceae. The research survey that had been conducted show the Sipirok Botanical Garden has very diverse species of Orchidaceae, thus makes it necessary to know how many species and how the morphological characters of Orchidaceae at the Sipirok Botanical Garden. The aim of the study was to identify and describe the morphology of Orchidaceae species at Sipirok Botanical Garden. The research was conducted from January to August 2023 using the exploration method, by exploring each forest area block location along the observation route. The results of the study obtained 22 species of Orchidaceae belonging to 17 genera; 15 species classified as epiphytes and 7 species terrestrial. The most species obtained, was from the genera Coelogyne in epiphytic habitats and Calanthe in terrestrial habitats. The Orchidaceae family found in the Sipirok Botanical Garden was growth on various habitats, starting from the forest edge with optimum sunlight to the inside areas of the forest that are shaded by tree canopy.en_US
