| dc.description.abstract | Durian waste has the potential to be used as animal feed, but it needs
further processing to increase its nutritional value. One way that can be done is to
make a complete feed. The aim of this study was to examine the value of dry
matter and organic matter digestibility of complete feed based on durian waste as
local male sheep feed. This study was conducted at the Enclosure of Animal
Husbandry Study Program and Research and Technology Laboratory of
Agriculture Faculty, North Sumatera University and Loka Penelitian Kambing
Potong Sei Putih Laboratory for 12 weeks and using 16 local male sheeps. The
design used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 4
replications. The treatment consisted of P0 = control; P1 = complete feed with
the main ingredient 20% durian skin + 20% durian seed + 20% elephant grass;
P2 = complete feed with the main ingredient 30% durian skin + 20% durian seed
+ 10% elephant grass; P3 = complete feed with the main ingredient 40% durian
skin + 20% durian seed. The variables observed were dry matter consumption,
organic matter consumption, dry matter digestibility and organic matter
digestibility
The result showed that the use of durian skin and seeds in the complete
feed had a significant (P<0.05) effect on the consumption of dry matter with
average 1.131,05-1532,73 g/sheep/day, the consumption of organic matter with
average 1.011,27-1.279,98 g/sheep/day, the digestibility of dry matter with
average 73,95-79,72% and the digestibility of organic matter male local sheep
with average 77,29-81,91%. The conclusion of this study is the utilization of
durian skin and seeds in complete feed can increase the consumption and
digestibility of dry matter and organic matter for local male sheep with the best
dosage being 30% durian skin + 20% durian seed + 10% elephant grass. | en_US |
