Kepok banana peel is one of the agricultural wastes that can be used as
animal feed with certain processing such as making wafers. This study aims to
determine the effect of giving kepok banana peel-based wafers to the total
digestible nutrient in local male sheep after weaning. The research was carried
out in the Sheep Barn, Faculty of Agriculture and Biochemistry/Food Chemistry
Laboratory, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of North
Sumatra for 2 months using 12 local male sheep after weaning. The research
design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3
replications. The treatments consisted of P0 (without kepok banana peel), P1
(20% kepok banana peel), P2 (40% kepok banana peel), and P3 (60% kepok
banana peel). Parameters observed were Total Digestible Nutriet (TDN).
The results showed that the use of banana peel-based wafers in local
male sheep after weaning had a significant effect on consumption of dry matter,
consumption of crude protein, consumption of crude fiber, consumption of crude
fat, consumption of extracts without nitrogen, crude protein digestibility, crude
fiber digestibility, and total digestible nutrient, but did not have a significant
effect on the crude fat digestibility and the extracts without nitrogen digestibility.
The conclusion of this study is the use of kepok banana peel-based wafers can
increase total digestible nutrient (TDN) in local male sheep after weaning with
the best level of 40% kepok banana peel.
