Penggunaan Complete Feed Berbasis Limbah Durian (Durio zibethinus Murr.) terhadap Kualitas Kimia Daging Domba Lokal Jantan Lepas Sapih

Abstract

Durian waste is the result of processing durian fruit which can be used as a substitute for animal feed, namely durian skin and seeds. One alternative feed that can provide nutrition in line with livestock needs and is given as sole feed is to make complete feed. The main problem with durian waste is that the seeds contain high levels of HCN which can be harmful to livestock and can cause death. Fermentation is one way that can reduce HCN levels and increase nutrition. The fermentation carried out in the research was carried out using MOL or local microorganisms with durian waste as the main ingredient. Research carried out in the Animal Husbandry Study Program of the Faculty of Agriculture, analysis of the chemical quality of meat was carried out in the Research Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra. The research, which was carried out over a period of 3 months, was carried out from 06 November to 29 January 2023. The experimental design carried out was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD), with 4 replications and 4 treatments, until 16 rams were obtained. Based on the research results, it was found that the use of complete feed based on durian waste had no real impact on the protein, water and fat content of local weaned male lambs.
